Killed May 15th, 1916 in Waco, TX. Washington was killed by a large crowd shortly after being found guilty for murder. He was taken from court and lynched in the center of town. The lynching lasted more than two hours and was viewed by many prominent officials and local police officers. No one was arrested in connection with Washington’s lynching. The NAACP dubbed the event, “The Waco Horror.”
